BACON – The small International Shop near Tansas is selling bacon.   It is in 2.27kg packs for 62.5TL – good to share this amongst maybe 4 people.
They also stock BRANSTON PICKLE / HORSERADISH / MINT JELLY / TARTARE SAUCE / TACOS / TINNED PAPAYA and much more.   For details of this shop – see the bottom of this page.

CHEDDAR CHEESE
Most supermarkets sell this in amongst the mountains of packet cheeses.   It's in a Green packet is made by PINAR and is labelled 'Cheddar'.   Packs of 5 slices.

CHRISTMAS GOODIES
Xmas puddings, xmas cakes, mince pies etc.   See bottom of page.

COCONUT
Desicated coconut – for cakes, curries, muesli etc.   This used to be very difficult to find =   They sell it in small packets in the YM shop.

CURRIES = chicken and beef
You can now buy locally made curries in Tansas.   Korma, Curry and Madras (quite spicy!).   they are reportedly very nice.
It comes in a box with the marinated chicken in one plastic bag and the curry sauce in another.   There’s apparently plenty of sauce, so you could add some extra chicken and it’s a meal for 2 people.   You can also buy pilau rice.
They are near the Milk and Ayran in a chilled cabinet.
If you like the curries in the Taj Mahal restaurant - they are rumoured to be made by the same people.

CURRY PASTE
Red (Hot) or Green Thai Curry Paste is for sale in Tansas.   End of the aisle opposite the butchery counter.

FISH FINGERS
YM Supermarket – choice of two makes. If not, try Tansas.

GARLIC FLAKES - dried, sliced garlic that you soak in warm water to reconstitute.   Great product!   In the Thursday market one of the guys selling spices now has this - (on the far-left stall) or he can get it for you.

LOW-SALT
Supposed to be healthier for our hearts – in YM supermarket etc.

NIKNAKS
Do you like these weird looking crisp-type things from the UK/   If so, there are some almost identical crisps in the YM Supermarket – in a large black packet. (Cerezza.   Peynir - is cheese flavour).

NOODLE SOUP
Chicken noodle soup is hard to get hold of.   They are now selling it in Tansas - on the bottom shelf - a yellow packet and the make is "Maggi".   And in Kipa.

PASTA SAUCE
There is a large jar of a spicy tomato sauce that they sell in Kipa.   It is made by Tesco and goes a long way.   A bit more like the juicy pasta sauces from the UK.

PASTIES – Scotch Eggs, Sausages, Pork(ish)Pies etc.   See the bottom of the page.

PATE
This has been spotted in Tansas – at the end of the aisle opposite the fish counter.
A chicken pate and a ‘meat’ pate.   In little yellow tins.
We've been told it's nice to add a bit of spice to this pate -
horseradish - chilli sauce - honey ?!

THE MARMARIS YACHT MARINA SUPERMARKET
Has a great selection of International Foods such as:-
APPLE SAUCE / BAKED BEANS / BACON-small packs / BEETROOT pickled / CHINESE INGREDIENTS / COCONUT MILK / CORNED BEEF / HP SAUCE / PESTO / PIZZA / PUMPERNICKEL / QUAKER OATS / SALAD DRESSINGS / SALAD CREAM / SPAM / great selection of CEREALS
During busier times - SAUSAGES / SCAMPI / FISH FINGERS / FOREIGN CHEESES / Newspapers!

PANCAKEY – BREAD SNACK
In YM shop they are selling fresh every day a flat snack about half the size of a frying pan.   They contain cheese or cheese and spinach.   You heat them up gently in a frying pan (the locals then roll them up).   They are normally on top of the ice-cream fridge. Delicious!

PASTA – tiny -for soups.   These are Turkish and sold in most supermarkets near the pasta.   They are like tiny noodle strips about 1cm long and very thin.   They are great for putting into soups like the turks do.

ROAST CHICKEN
Most people get these in town and bring them back to the boat - they can last for 2 or 3 meals.   Before you get on the Dolmus/Ferry home, pop to 'Pilic Evi' - it is generally agreed that the chickens there are more moist and have a lot more meat on them.
Coming from Gas Alley and walking towards the Bazaar, just before you get to the yellow and green supermarket, Pilic Evi is on a corner on your left - it is a small, modern looking place that has aluminium balustrade.
(It also does nice chicken lunches, you can eat inside in the winter and it has a loo!)

VILLAGE BREAD – flat round bread about 1inch high sold at the Thursday Market on stall 246 for 3TL.   Last for a few days and is also great toasted.

WATER -   bottled water is not too expensive, but an even cheaper way to do it is
buy the very large 19litre bottles from YM SUPERMARKET.   You can either buy a
pump to attach to the top of the bottle or de-cant it into smaller bottles (as we do).
You pay 10TL for the bottle (returnable when you leave) and then pay 4.75TL
(Sangras) or 6TL (Pinar) THIS IS FOR 19litres!!   When you need more, take the
bottle back to the shop and they will deliver you a new bottle to your boat.
(See photos at bottom of page).
