......so good, they named it twice...
We visited our friends Tony and Marianne (SY Seaspray) who live in Brooklyn in a lovely apartment.
(They have a friendly doorman just like on the TV!)
We took a trip on the famous Staten Island Ferry.
That "S o L"   isn't as
big as you think it is.
We did all the tourist bits...
Times Square (that's really small)           /     Grand Central Station     /         Empire State Building (2hr queue to go to the top)
We were there in December and couldn't have timed it better - what a wonderland place New York is at Christmas!
The christmas windows in Macy's and Bloomingdales were every bit as impressive as you would expect trhem to be.
The eyes on this one were monitors for a camera - if you look closely at his eye, we are standing there   - Cool !
Tony & Marianne drove us out to the suburbs to show us a famous area where people decorate their houses with mad christmas decorations.
What a sight !   Moonlight Fantasy would look good like that I reckon?
Rockefeller Center - complete with Ice Skating Rink
We all took a nightime stroll around Brooklyn (yes...."nightime' - don't believe all that you see on 'NYPD Blue' - not a mugger in sight).
It's a really cosmopolitan / cappucino culture kind of neighbourhood.
We went to the 'BrownStone' where Marianne lived as a kid and then went for an exotic turkish meal - to remind us all of what we were missing.
Central Park           (a tad chilly)
Falafel + Hotdogs...

got to be done !
Better than a hire car !
Tony & marianne took us to 'Little Italy' and then for Dim Sum in China Town.
We aslo hooked up with our other New York friends (Don & Babs)for a bite to eat.

- we picked them up from Trump Towers - quite a nice Pad -   bit flashy though,
but that's Don for ya !.
GROUND ZERO.
These are photos that are on display around the site.
We're not sure what to say about this place.
The sheer scale of the area is incredible.

You cannot imagine what it must have been like there after it happened.

We were both very moved by our visit to the site.

What a terrible thing for anybody to do !
This is the actual site as at Dec 06.
All cleared and ready for construction.
This is what the new building will look like

NEW YORK   -   Our overall opinion...

- Awesome place !!
- At every turn there is something you recognise as being famous - it must be how foreigners feel when they come to London.
- The locals were very friendly which was unexpected, and they were helpful and chatty.
- Tony and Marianne were fabulous and made it an extra special visit. - We had a great laugh - thanks guys.
- We would highly recommend the Big Apple for a trip.
- Definitely would go back.
